Daisy Brittle Sea Star ID Guide
Framing statement:
For semester one in my Ecology/Evolution of marine species class, we were tasked with making an identification guide for our assigned marine organism. An identification guide is a way for people to identify unknown organisms using descriptions, pictures, and characteristics of the organism. Our identification guides were going to be used in an online database. For this project, I was told to create an ID guide for the Daisy Brittle Sea Star. There were many strengths in this project for me because last week in my lab I was able to see the sea star in person and this helped me write my ID guide. I was able to get a picture of the starfish and write down a physical description. My weakness for this project was finding the daisy brittle sea star’s ecological niche in the community. This was hard because I wasn’t able to observe the sea star in its natural habitat and there was limited information online. Overall I felt this was a strong project of mine.
